The Seminary Sign Language Lecture
1 min read

Today, 24th January 2026, the seminarians of St. Bernard Seminary Hostel continued their sign language lecture with great enthusiasm and commitment. The class forms part of the seminary’s ongoing effort to equip future ministers with practical skills that will enhance their pastoral mission in the Church.

The study of sign language is especially important because it opens new doors for communication with the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Through this initiative, the seminarians are being prepared to reach out to people who are often neglected due to communication barriers. In this way, the seminary affirms the dignity of every human person and promotes inclusiveness in evangelization.

This lecture is aimed at helping the seminarians spread the Good News of the Gospel beyond conventional means of communication. By learning sign language, they will be able to proclaim God’s message of love, hope, and salvation to all, without exclusion. It also reminds them that true pastoral ministry involves meeting people where they are and speaking a language they can understand.

Overall, the sign language class reflects the seminary’s vision of forming well-rounded ministers who are sensitive to the needs of the society and committed to serving God’s people in diverse and meaningful ways.
